Welcome to the Little Red Cookbook Blog

We thought it would be fun to be able to post what recipes we have made and enjoyed.  After all, 1500 cookbooks have been sold so far, so we know a lot of you are out there cooking up a storm!

Please click on the CREATE POST link to the right, then post the name of the recipe you have tried (put the page number if you have it), write a short comment, add your name, then pick a category. Once the post has been approved you will see it on the blog. Sometimes it is easier to just glance at this blog and make something that someone else has already tried and liked.  ALL of the recipes really are terrific, so we hope you are having some fun in the kitchen now!

We still have the last of the cookbooks for sale in the school store, so if you are interested, stop on by!  Thank you for all of your support with this Parents' Association project!

Graduates Need a Little Piece of Home
We have 70+ girls headed into the big world in just two months.  When they are looking for a taste of home and an escape from door food, they can pull out the Little Red Cookbook and remember not only home, but great times at RPCS.  Get one for your soon to be graduate in the bookstore now before they are all gone!

Pecan Pie
My wonderful daughter-in-law gave me the Little Red Cookbook and I have used it! The Pecan Pie (p. 260) is a recipe I will use again and again. It is the no-fail pecan pie recipe and it is good! - Ann Polk

Fish Filets Dijon
The Fish Filets Dijon (page 167) is a dish I have made over and over. Easy, good, and perfect for two. Try it, you'll like it! - Ann Polk

Fettuccine with Creamy Tomato and Sausage Sauce page 191
This pasta dish took less than 30 minutes from start to finish.  The sauce is flavorful and creamy.  I elected to add 8ozs of tomato sauce (in lieu of the reserved water from the pasta) to add more volume and a bit more of a tomato taste.  We will definitely serve this one again!

Thanks for the great gift idea Ms. Harrington
I have three weddings in June, all young brides, and now I know what to give along with the Williams-Sonoma gift card!  If you have a wedding or special Mother you know needs a gift, pick up the book soon - there are less than 100 copies left!!!

Irish Eyes Are Smiling
I don't cook but love to give and receive gifts!  The Little Red Cookbook was a hit at Christmas time with my in-laws and friends.  It is so pretty to look and read even for us non-cooks!  Happy St. Patrick's Day.  RPCS Momx2

Easy Yummy Chicken Dinner
This is a must!  Again, I have those frozen chicken breasts so I just keep trying new recipes out of the book.  LOVED this one!  It really tasted like Chinese food!  Kids loved it! (p. 138)

Easy Chicken Enchiladas
My family loved this recipe!!!  I always have frozen boneless chicken breats and never know what to do with them!  I strongly encourage you all to try these - your kids will love them!  I did add one more chicken breast to the recipe since we tend to eat a lot :)...then I just went a little heavy on the other ingredients (except the cumin).  Thank you, Amy Sibel, for this easy recipe!!! (p. 138).

Crabmeat Lasagne, p.167
This is a terrific recipe! Such a good change from beef, etc... But one might wonder about the "tub of salt" in the ingredients list. That should be 1/2 tsp. - I highly recommend this dish!

Cooked from this book for 5 straight weeks!
Ingrid said I do not have to comment on every single thing I made but it is hard not to because Nicole and her family devoured every single meal for our entire stay with them in Calfornia. I did everything from appitizers to desserts to afternoon snacks from the Little Red Cookbook. It is fabulous and I am an "old" cook with lots in my head. Great job committee and participants. Love making recipes from the "little girls" who used to do "sleep overs" at our house.
You know about the BEST GOOEY CHEWY COOKIES already on page 281. They were one of the after school treats. Definitely go for Susan Birely's SHRIMP SCAMPI on page 174. This got a 10 from 5 of us with a 9 from Brad who never gives a 10. You may remember the old Boynton custom of ranking each recipe after a meal by throwing fingers on the count of 3. This was a big winner along with BETTER from SCRATCH SPAGHETTI and MEAT-BALLS on page 188 and TENDERLOIN DELUXE on page 163. I sauteed mushrooms to mix with the remaining essence before serving. Yum-O.
More later,
Grammy (Elsa) Boynton
