Welcome back students! Last time we met, we talked about what cyber bullying is. We watched some videos and came up with a universal definition for cyber bullying. Today we will talk about how cyber bullying affects someone.
Cyber bullying is a means of using online resources to tease, humilate, embarass, harass and intimidate people on the Internet. So...cyber bullying is being mean and unkind while communicating online. Think you would never do it or have never done it? You might be surprised. Click on the link below to answer a questionnaire to see if you've ever had some errors in judgement while communicating online.
If you did well on this questionnaire, congratulations. If by completing this questionnaire you discovered that you may not always have been kind when you communicated online, you can change your behavior.
So, lets talk about why cyberbullying is a big deal and why you should strive NOT to be a cyberbully.
Think about a time you felt bullied, picked on, left out or laughed at. Think about the feelings you felt when this occurred. Using the interactive website wordle.net you will type all the feelings you felt. You have five minutes. Don't worry about spelling. When you think you have typed all the feelings you can think of, click on the go button to see the word cloud you created.
What words did you come up with? Well, while that experience was awful, if you were being cyber bullied, you would have to deal with those same feelings every single day. That's how it feels to be cyber bullied.
Let me show you what I mean. Lets watch a video about the affects of cyber bullying.
Now, after you have watched the video, you will be broken into four groups.Once you are in your groups, you will click on the designated link for your group. You may be asked to log in. Here is the log in information:
