Welcome! In today's lesson, we will learn about the consequences to cyberbullying .

Last time we met, we talked about what cyberbullying was and described how it feels to be bullied. So, lets review some of the terms we talked about last class. In your folders, take out your drill sheet. Click here if you need another copy. You have five minutes to complete this drill.

Now, lets talk about the consequences (emotional and legal consequences of cyberbullying) What you are about to watch is a true story about a young girl who was cyberbullied. Watch the videos and then fill out the consequences/feeling sheet. You may work together in a group to fill out the sheet. You have 8 minutes to complete the sheet.

So, what are some of the legal consequences that can occur from cyberbullying? Well, in Maryland it is against the law to send a threatening e-mail and is punishable by a $500 fine. Plus, the victims of cyberbullying can press charges if they choose to.

In terms of school, what do you think are some of the consequences that can happen to the bully? What is RPCS' policy on cyberbullying? Lets discuss it. You will be divided into groups of 2 or three. You will click on your group name . You will be shown excerpts from the school's AUP.(Acceptable Use Policy) The AUP is a contract that all students and teachers must sign before they can attend or work at RPCS. This AUP states what our school policy on cyberbullying is. Read the excerpts then re-write the points in your own words.
You have 8 minutes to finish this task.
Okay, now that you have looked at each other's responses, you probably saw that you had similar responses. Now, I am going to explain these concepts more. Every student and teacher at RPCS has to sign an AUP before they can attend school. Your parents probably signed yours. Lets take a look at what the AUP says and I'll explain the points.
