Welcome! In today's lesson, we will learn more about the consequences of cyberbullying .

Last time we met, we talked about what cyberbullying was and described how it feels to be bullied.  We also discussed how it makes someone feel and the possible consequences it can have on others.

So, what were some of the legal consequences that can occur from cyberbullying? Well, in Maryland it is against the law to send a threatening e-mail and is punishable by a $500 fine. Plus, the victims of cyberbullying can press charges if they choose to.

In terms of school, what do you think are some of the consequences that can happen to the bully? Let's discuss it.  We will be broken into four groups. Once in your group you will click on the designated links below. Remember if you are asked to login here is the login information:

  • Login name: hoodmarine1
  • Password: semperfi

Once at the link, click on edit and type some consequences that you think a cyberbully can face at our school. When you are done typing, click on save.  You have 8 minutes to finish this task.

Okay, now that you have looked at each other's responses, you probably saw that you had similar responses. Now, I am going to explain these concepts more. Every student and teacher at RPCS has to sign an AUP before they can attend school. Your parents probably signed yours. Lets take a look at what the AUP says and I'll explain the points.

So let's see if you were paying attention to Ms. T's explaination. Click on the link below to take a survey.

Great job! Next class, we will discuss what you can do to stop a cyberbully. For your homework, take the brochure home and re-write the AUP in your own words.  Make sure you are clear in your AUP as to what behavior is acceptable and unacceptable.
