1. Physical Education is an academic class that is included when determining honor roll.
2. P.E. Uniform is required. Failure to comply will result in detention and be reported to the Dean of Students. More than one violation of uniform per marking period will affect the student's preparation grade for the quarter.
3. Attendance is required. Failure to comply will be reported to the Head of the Upper School/Dean of Students.
4. Absence from class:
a. Doctor's note is necessary to be excused from the class for an extended period of time. In such cases attendance may be suspended until such time as activities can be resumed safely. Communication with the teacher during this time is essential to establish appropriate class requirements. (Student's responsibility)
b. A note from parent or nurse is required to be excused from class for reasons os short-term illness.
c. All notes are to be delivered to the teacher in person prior to class, unless physically unable to do so (confined to the nurse's office).
d. When students are unable to participate but are attending school, class attendance is still required. It is the student's responsibility to contact the teacher when illness or injury affects attendance in P.E. class.
5. CHEWING GUM IS PROHIBITED! It is unsafe as well as a violation of school rules.
6. All jewelry must be removed prior to class for safety reasons.
7. It is the student's responsibility to:
a. Keep a notebook/folder for class and bring it with you everyday to put handouts and worksheets in.
b. Always have your uniform and keep it neat. When students are permitted to wear their own clothes to school, they must still change into PE uniform for class.
c. Help with equipment
d. Pick up and study any handouts given and be prepared for the quiz/test. If absent, the student should be prepared to take the quiz/test during the next class meeting time.
e. Listen quietly during instructions and demonstrations and exhibit courteous behavior to all regardless of activity. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP IS EXPECTED FROM EVERYONE!
f. Keep safety in mind in all activities.
g. Get to this class and the next on time.
***Physical Education is a class and should be treated accordingly. Outstanding skill is not expected of everyone, but participating to your full capability is expected of every individual in the class.
