Parent Workshops

2009-2010

In recent years, over fifty RPCS teachers and administrators have attended a one week Schools Attuned workshop generously supported by the RPCS Parents’ Association.   Schools Attuned is offered by All Kinds of Minds, a not-for-profit organization that translates the latest research from neuroscience and other disciplines on how students learn — and vary in their learning — into a powerful framework that educators can use in the classroom.

This year, RPCS is pleased to offer parents a series of workshops that All Kinds of Minds has designed for parents: Learning About Learning.  These workshops are designed to develop a partnership between parents, educators, and students to support success in school and at home. The program assists parents who are seeking information and strategies to help their children experience success in learning.

Each of the four workshops will be offered for RPCS parents only on two occasions—in the morning (9:30 am – 11:30 am) and in the evening (7:00 pm – 9:00 pm). The workshops are free, but advanced registration is required to ensure that we have sufficient materials on hand. Participation in each workshop is limited to 30 parents so please sign up early to avoid disappointment. The workshops are targeted to parents of students in Grades K – 8, but Upper School parents are more than welcomed to attend.

To register for the workshops, please email Carla Spawn-van Berkum, Assistant Head of School for Academics, at vanberkumc@rpcs.org with the name(s) of the parent(s) who will attend and the name and date of the workshop(s) in which you are interested.  You will receive a confirmation email prior to the workshop date.
