Standardized Testing: Please note that ERB testing will take place on May 7 and 8. Students need not make any special preparations beyond a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast. This year, we will be piloting online tests for the 7th and 8th grades. ERB scores will be available to parents on request. Phone the MS Office if you would like to request your daughter’s scores.
Spring Concert: Come one, come all, to celebrate the achievement of our Middle School girls in performing and visual arts. The concert will begin at 7:15 on Thursday, May 8. Please note that this is a “no homework” night for our students.
8th Grade Exams: The exams will take place on Friday, May 30, Monday, June 2, and Tuesday, June 3. Exam make-up day will be Wednesday June 4. Each day, after exams, the girls will have a mandatory Closing Exercises Rehearsal from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. Students may remain on campus, quietly studying in the Faissler Library, if they need to, until they join After School Study Hall at 4:00. Otherwise, students may be picked up at 1:15.

Memorial Day Convocation: On May 23rd , the whole student body will gather to commemorate Memorial Day. At this convocation, the names of family members who have died during the past year are read aloud. If a member of your daughter’s family has died during the past year, please be sure that we have his or her name. Call Sue Welsh at 323-5500. ext. 3058 or e-mail welshs@rpcs.org with the name, his or her relationship to your daughter, and the date of death.
Year-End Activities: The Middle School spends the last Thursday of the school year cleaning up, returning textbooks, enjoying field day, and celebrating the year’s end with a special awards assembly in the afternoon. These events are primarily in-house celebrations for the students and teachers; parents are welcome, but not required, to attend. At this assembly, some students, usually 8th graders, are honored with special achievement awards.
Closing Exercises: Just a reminder... the Middle School Closing Exercises are scheduled for June 6 at 2:00 pm. All students are required to attend. Sixth and seventh graders are to be in full uniform. Eighth graders are to wear age and event appropriate white or off-white dresses or skirts and blouses, along with white shoes or sandals (NO flip-flops please!). Skirts should be somewhere in length between tea length and regular length. Don’t hesitate to call for advice if necessary!
Eighth Grade End-of-Year Events: Parents of 8th graders should be aware by now of two celebratory occasions in honor of the 8th grade. First, a reception following the Closing Ceremonies, organized by 7th grade parents and hosted by the School, will be held in the cafeteria. Second, the Parents’ Association is organizing a trip to Hershey Park on the Monday after Closing Exercises. We understand that many families will also hold their own celebratory gatherings for their daughters and small groups of friends. Please keep in mind that as with any parties to which the whole class is not invited (remember birthday parties in the Lower School?), it is important to be respectful of those who will not be attending by refraining from drawing attention to the party within the school community. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
